A First Wedding Anniversary Gift

One of those magical and important occasions in a wedding is the first wedding anniversary. For most couples the first year is a difficult year, a time of transition, a time of adjusting. This is the year that they love to become a couple instead of two single people.

The first year of being married often brings lots of stress and strain. This year is called the “Period of Adjustment.” Therefore, the first anniversary is a celebration of surviving what was probably a turbulent time. This is also a time for the couple to exchange their first important gifts as a married couple. There were other gift-giving opportunities but this is the big one. Husbands beware. This is your big test.

Husbands, this is your chance to be a hero, the envy of all of the other husbands on the block. They may hate you but your wife will love you and will certainly be in a good that night if you get my drift. I don’t think I have to spell it out for you. Anyway, as usual, I digress. Depending on your wife’s interests, use those at a starting point. If she likes jewelry, that’s a perfect starting place. Even if you don’t have much money, you can be creative and still give her a present she will never forget. You don’t have to wait until the day before the wedding to start looking. Several months before the anniversary, start looking at sale papers. Jewelry stores put on sales all the time. I think a diamond heart necklace is a perfect gift. They come in all sizes and prices. Actually, these heart necklaces aren’t that pricey but look like a million bucks. Besides, diamonds are always a great place to start.

If your wife is very traditional, a pearl necklace might be the perfect gift. Every lady looks dressed when she wears pearls. They dress any outfit from jeans and a sweater to a fancy dress. Gold earrings are also a wise choice if your wife enjoys wearing them.

If money is scarce and you want to still give a romantic gift, have a picture of your honeymoon blown up into a large portrait size. Choose a nice already matted frame to complete the gift. Sign the card with “the time of my life” somewhere on the card. She will love that you took the time and effort to give her such a lovely gift. It didn’t cost much but it is always the thought that counts.

What to get a husband when you don’t have much money? Let me think. If you really want to make your husband a really happy man, buy yourself a sexy nightgown. Trust me; that’s a gift for him too. Add a cold bottle of champagne and some glasses to the bedroom. Maybe some strawberries for something to nibble on will finish the scenario. When your husband comes home, put a note where he leaves his keys. Invite him to your bedroom where you will be waiting in your new nightie. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.
