Wedding Cake Pans

If you are starting your own wedding cake business or you simply want to make a few wedding cake for friends, you should buy a really good set of wedding cake pans. If you want to make beautiful, tasty wedding cakes, you should spend the money to get the best. Sometimes buying inexpensive cooking tools is fine, but never buy cheap baking pans. After you have made your first cake, you will end up throwing away the cheap pans and purchasing professional level baking pans. They will last forever and give you beautiful, even cakes every time.

Most bakers agree that the Wilton brand cake pans are the best. They are made of pure aluminum. Pure aluminum is the best metal for baking cakes because the cakes have a light golden brown surface which is perfect for a cake. Even baking is essential. You don't want a cake that is too brown on the edges and not done in the middle. Even browning is essential. Good Housekeeping has rated Wilton wedding cake pans as #1. Because Good Housekeeping test kitchens actually try out many cake pans before they name their favorite baking pans, you can actually trust their recommendation.

One of the first choices you have to make is how thick you want your cake layers to be. There are two choices available, either two inches or three inches. This difference is personal preference. If you prefer the higher cake layer, you would buy the three inch cake pan. On the contrary, if you prefer a smaller layer, you would choose the two inch layer. Both will make beautiful cakes.

Next you choose the size cakes that you want to use. The best option is to buy each one of the sizes. The Wilton cakes come in six inch, eight inch, ten inch, and twelve inch, fourteen inch, and sixteen inch. These are round cake pans. If you don't expect to make a huge cake, you might want to forego the larger sizes, but you never know. As you progress in your cake baking, you might have the opportunity to make a very large wedding cake and need the bigger pans. None of the pans are over $20.00 and most are less than $10.00. If you don't want to make the huge expenditure at first, buy what you need immediately and add on later.

Wilton pans hold up very well. They can be used over and over again and if taken care of can last a lifetime.

Some people try the nonstick pans because they think the cake will simply fall out of the pans as soon as it's cool. Unfortunately, you still have to use a knife around the sides and yes, you will cut the nonstick surface. These are not good for repeated use.

Selecting the best wedding cake pans is not rocket science. Feel free to do the research, but you will probably end up buying Wilton pans. You won't be disappointed.
