Wedding Cakes - Choosing the perfect Wedding Cake

wedding cakeThe Wedding cake is always one of the big highlights of every wedding and is certainly at the center of the reception. I am sure that everyone will agree there is nothing more beautiful than a perfectly decorated wedding cake that complements the wedding theme. It is strange but many people remember more about the wedding cake than they do about the actual wedding such as what the bride was wearing. It especially helps if the case not only looks good but tastes great, if this is the case then they will remember the wedding as perfect even if mistakes happen which they nearly always do do in a wedding.

The opposite is also true, if you have a stale bland bland wedding cake it can make the best planned and most elaborate perfect wedding seem less so because everyone remembers the cake. Even those skinny bridesmaids sneak of piece of cake before they leave unless they hear it's not very good. The perfect  cake should look demolished by the end of the reception. Of course, you must save the top level for the first anniversary. Otherwise, unless the cake was too large for the amount of people that attended the wedding, there shouldn't be much left.

Before going to the cake baker, you should have already done your homework. There are thousands of pictures of wedding cakes available on any give day. Google wedding cakes and you can see every kind of wedding cake that you can imagine. You can also buy bride's magazines. These magazines show some amazing cakes. Obviously, these cakes are very pricey, but your baker might be able to do a knockoff of the cake without the huge price. At least have a few ideas or even pictures to show the baker.

Most wedding cake bakers will make drawings that duplicate your ideas. Don't be afraid to ask for changes or to tell the baker that he is off track. It's your cake and your day. You deserve to have the cake of your dreams. This process may take time, but in the long run, you will have the cake of your dreams.

When you have your cake tasting which is the best part of the process, both the bride and groom should attend. The baker will have several flavors and types of cake for you to taste. You will probably be offered chocolate cake, carrot cake, red velvet cake, almond cake, and butter cake. Some bakeries may even offer some exotic cakes like passion fruit or a liquor based cake. You might even choose to have a different type of cake per layer. That's a fun way to surprise your guests. They won't be able to decide which layer to choose because they will all look so wonderful.

Some bakers offer filling between the cake layers. If you want these fillings, make sure that these fillings taste good with the cake. You might even have fruit between the layers. The wedding cake is personal and can be whatever you want.

The bride and groom also need to choose an icing. Basically, you can choose chocolate, fondant, cream cheese, or butter cream icing. Taste the icings with the cake to make sure everything works together and the different facets of the cake complement each other.

Another imnportant factor is the cake Decorations. It is important to choose the colors and the type of decorations you want. By tradition  sugar flowers which are easy to make should be on the cake.  Another favorite ate butter cream decorations. No matter what you decide, make sure you get to taste your own cake besides the traditional feeding one another the cake. A wedding cake is expensive so you should have at least one piece. It's your special day so don't be afraid to Indulge.
